This week, Wolverhampton Grand Theatre celebrates the welcome addition of a Baby Grand Piano to the Encore Lounge – the venue’s new alternative performance space. Until now, the Encore Lounge has played host to a number of live stand up comedy evenings, and a brand new season of comedy has just gone on sale. The lounge has also seen two popular evenings of jazz music courtesy of the Brian Humpherson Trio.

Now, the theatre is calling for budding local pianists to trial the piano and showcase their talents in an ‘open-mic’ style series of opportunities. The theatre is looking forward to giving opportunities to musicians, particularly those who are looking for performance experience which could lead to a period of residency at the Theatre as the programme for future performances in the Encore Lounge develops.

Opportunities will include the chance to perform in the Encore Lounge before performances take place in the main auditorium and then again during the interval. There will also be the possibility of performing at the Theatre’s Gala and Press Nights which are attended by many of the stars and actors appearing in the productions.
