This summer, Edinburgh's five star attraction Dynamic Earth takes on a tantalisingly tropical theme, with the arrival of four new animated animals, along with a whole host of rainforest-themed treats. On 1 July, the attraction welcomed some very special African visitors, namely a life-size Chimpanzee, Nile Crocodile, Western Green Mamba and Yellow-Casqued Hornbill. All four of the lifelike models are equipped with separate audio tracks, bringing the African rainforest to life.

To celebrate the arrival of these tropical animals, there will be a variety of topical activities taking place to entertain and inspire. The ever popular Dynamic Earth photobooth will return as 'Snappy Valley' with fun props and animals, allowing visitors to capture the memory of their rainforest expedition. Plus there will be a 'Spider Pit' where youngsters can unleash their inner explorer and dig for spiders, before heading to 'Craft Creek' for face painting and fun craft activities; meanwhile, those with a competitive streak can try to outrun a virtual crocodile on 'Croco-Mile'.

Commenting on this summer's additions to the attraction, Eilidh Massie, marketing manager of Dynamic Earth said: “The sun might not have made much of an appearance yet this summer, but it's set to be a scorcher at Dynamic Earth! With brand new animals, lighting effects and even a brewing storm, our rainforest will be the only place guaranteed some African heat in the city centre.

“Our top deck activities have proved incredibly popular over the past couple of years, and this summer they're better than ever. We've got a fantastic selection of interactive displays, with fun for everyone, old and young. We can't wait to see what our visitors make of it!”

As well as the rainforest activities, regular Dynamic Earth features include Scotland's only permanent 4D cinema, the 360-degree ShowDome, a real iceberg, a bone-shaking earthquake and the Deep Time Machine which takes visitors billions of years back in time.

The rainforest activities will run until 2 August, and are free with admission to Dynamic Earth.
