He has played there numerous times for England and picked up a Community Shield medal for Manchester United in their win over neighbours City in 2011.But an FA Cup appearance at the grand old stadium will be a new experience for Cleverley. The in-form midfielder admits his record in the competition is nothing to write home about. But he hopes to put that right with victory over Liverpool this afternoon. The purists point to the FA Cup as a competition of majesty and it's an opinion shared by the 25-year-old.
He said: "The FA Cup is a big thing for me. I remember following the FA Cup final coverage when I was a young kid - the coach leaving from the team hotel, fans walking up Wembley Way - that big build-up on the TV. "This is obviously the semi-final and not the final - but it's still very special. It's great that the semi-final is at Wembley because it gives fans a good day-out and hopefully we can give our supporters two days there.
The aura is very much still there with the FA Cup, undoubtedly. It has that magic, that history, that tradition, that aura. It's a huge competition. I am massively excited about the semi-final. I have never really ever been on a cup run so this is really great. It's been fun. I have never played in an FA Cup game at Wembley before. This is truly the stuff you dream of as a boy. I am really relishing it.
We know it's going to be a tough game because Liverpool are a good side. But we are determined to do ourselves proud. We're certainly not going there to make up the numbers. We're going there to win." Cleverley has been an integral part of the claret and blue set-up which has really shone under Tim Sherwood over the past few weeks. Villa are now up to 15th in the Barclays Premier League after the titanic win over Tottenham.
The Sherwood era has definitely showcased the class of Christian Benteke, Gabby Agbonlahor and Fabian Delph and it's players like these - "dangerous players" - who Cleverley believes can upset the Reds this weekend. He continued: "There's a great buzz around Bodymoor after that Tottenham win. It was a huge victory. We have picked up 10 points in our last six games so we're definitely going in the right direction. Hopefully we can carry that confidence into Liverpool on Sunday.
I don't think you can underestimate the win at White Hart Lane. Going to Wembley on the back of a win is huge for us. I am sure Liverpool will be assessing our threats and pointing out what we have got in our locker. Anything can happen on any given day."
