Four generations reunited at Chelmunds Court care home in Solihull last week to surprise 103-year-old resident, Gwendoline, with an introduction to the fifth generation in the family, great, great granddaughter, Harper. The care home is operated by Runwood Homes, situated in Chelmsley Wood in Solihull, Birmingham.

The team and family expressed tears of joy and happiness as the newest addition to the family was welcomed by Gwen. She enjoyed many cuddles with Harper and sang lullabies that she would often sing to her daughter, granddaughter, and great granddaughter.

With COVID restrictions being tight over the last few years, the opportunity to all come together has been limited, but with the birth of Harper, the family and the team at Chelmunds Court worked together to create this special moment for Gwen.

Margaret, Gwen’s daughter, thanked the home for organizing a wonderful day. She said: “Having us all together in one room was such an emotional experience and mum was so pleased to meet baby Harper. I can’t thank the team at Chelmunds Court enough for organising such a beautiful day. It was a very touching moment for us all.”

Wellbeing Lead, Julie, said: “It’s not often that you see five generations of family all together in one room and we know that Gwendoline was so pleased to have everybody back together.

A huge thank must go to everyone involved in making this reunion happen. When they walked into the room and introduced baby Harper, the joy on her face was priceless, and after years of restrictions and difficult times, this time together was needed and will be a moment they will never forget.”

Chelmunds Court, situated in the bustling town of Solihull, boasts premium settings across two spacious floors, and provides professional residential and dementia care.
