A host of activities for all the family are lined up at Sandwell museums in a packed spring programme guaranteed to entertain and inspire all ages. Craft activities, animal handling sessions, wildlife fun, junk modelling, movies, storytelling and egg hunts are lined up for the school Easter holidays with a special free family fun day being held at Haden Hill House and Oak House on Monday 28 March from 12-4pm.

Enjoy a taste of life over the last 400 years ago to the present day as Oak House Museum in West Bromwich celebrates a Spice Festival on Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 April. Join staff for live music, quizzes, trails, entertainment, craft activities and costumed characters all based around the many uses of spice. Visitors will also be able to see a taste of our Islamic decorative arts collection on display in the house.

The Manor House Museum, in Hall Green Road, is markingSt George’s Day with free family fun on Saturday 23 April from 11am-3pm and a medieval encampment is taking up residency at the Manor House on Sunday 1 and Monday 2 May giving people the chance to travel back 800 years and experience life in medieval times. Guided tours of the building are available each day running from 11am-3pm.

Haden Hill House Museum is hosting a traditional 1916 village fete on Monday 2 May from 12-4pm which is free. Take a picnic and enjoy a fabulous family day out with great entertainment and live music. Visitors will also be able to take a glimpse inside Haden Old Hall which will be open to the public.

At the same time Oak House Museum travel back in time to Totty’s wedding on Monday 2 May. The historic house will come to life as staff take on the role of servants and the family planning a wedding 1650s-style. Younger visitors will be encouraged to get involved in quill pen writing, music and household chores 1650s-style!
