Ahead of next year’s 40th Anniversary of Leee John of legendary British soul band Imagination, and best-selling live music recording artist, will be celebrating the launch of their 40th Anniversary Tour 2022 with a very special performance planned at the iconic Jamhouse, in Birmingham, as he reflects on a musical career that spans 4 decades.
Leee will be emerging from the recording studio with the release of brand new music, first up with the explosive dance tune ‘It Feels So Good’, an amazing collaboration with legendary NYC DJ/producer/songwriter Victor Simonelli - one of the early pioneers of the unique NYC underground dance music movement that has now become a phenomenon it its own right and religiously followed by the clubbing faithful the world over, co-produced with the production talents of Sam Mack and Kelly Mack.
‘It Feels So Good’ is a powerful song, which embraces the power of freedom amid these unsettling times as the planet slowly starts to emerge out of this word wide covid pandemic. Next up is a beautiful rendition of the classic Stylistics song ‘Betcha By Golly Wow’ performed by Leee and taken from the ‘Re-Discovered’ album project with includes alongside a host of iconic 1980’s artists including Junior, Kiki Dee, Kym Mazell, Sinitta and Owen Paul, who join forces to re-imagine their favourite tracks of all time in one mighty album of musical re-discovery, as they celebrate both the single and album format.

With record sales in excess of over 30 million albums the incomparable Leee John and his group Imagination released and successfully had so many amazing classic hits singles and platinum, gold and silver albums with songs such as ‘Just An Illusion’, ‘Music and Lights’ ‘Changes’ ‘Flashback’ ‘In The Heat of the Night’ and many more securing Imagination’s with their perfect Brit Soul/Jazz/Funk songs establishing their position as essential 80's crossover hit-makers and an influence for future generations in the music industry.
Even today the story of Imagination’s music continues in the form of a long list of samples, remixes and adaptations by major contemporary stars. Such as the The Pharcyde, Dimitri from Paris, Destiny’s Child (Complete with Beyoncé) sampled ‘Just An Illusion’ on their 1998 self-titled debut album produced by Wyclef Jean, with Leee himself featured on DJ Dero’s 2005 rendition of the song which was widely played in clubs. Also, let’s not forget America superstar Maria Carey recorded version of ‘Illusion’ on her top ten single ‘Get Your Number.’ Furthermore, we see Flashback being sampled by Boards of Canada, Music & Lights by Tiger & Woods.
