Fans will be treated to the exciting return of the BBL Slam Dunk Contest as part of a spectacular line-up of entertainment at the British Basketball Cup Finals in Birmingham’s Utilita Arena, which will also be shown live on Sky Sports on Sunday January 29th.

The league’s most talented high-flyers will battle it out in an epic contest taking place between the Men’s and Women’s Finals and, with just over a week to go, a star-studded line up of dunkers has now been confirmed.

Hoping to impress the judging panel and what is set to be a capacity crowd in the ‘Second City’ will be Maceo Jack of Cheshire Phoenix, James Hawthorne Jr of the Plymouth City Patriots, Marcus Delpeche of the B. Braun Sheffield Sharks and fellow Shark Hensy Sako - winner of the 2021 Hoopsfix All-Star Classic Dunk Contest.

Fans will be treated to an insane competition and the stakes have been raised as 2023 will see a new dunk champion crowned on the court. This year's dunkers shared their thoughts ahead of competing in front of the atmospheric Utilita Arena crowd.

Marcus Delpeche (B. Braun Sheffield Sharks) said: "I'm super excited to be back in the dunk contest this year and looking to take home the title. The crowd was crazy last year, and I'm hyped to have another chance to win the dunk contest. To have Hensy here too is going to be great, and hopefully we can bring that title back to Sheffield with us!"

Hensy Sako (B. Braun Sheffield Sharks) said: "This will be my first time in the BBL Slam Dunk Contest, and I can't wait to put on a show. I've been in dunk contests before, winning the Hoopsfix All-Star Classic contest in 2021, so I know I can get it done, and I'm looking forward to competing for the title in Birmingham on January 29."

Maceo Jack (Cheshire Phoenix) said: “I’m excited to be a part of the BBL Cup Final Slam Dunk Contest. I’m looking forward to showcasing my athletic abilities alongside a group of really talented guys. Between the four of us I know we’ll put on an incredible show, but I’m going to do everything I can to bring the title back to Cheshire.”

James Hawthorne Jr (Plymouth City Patriots) said: "I'm so thankful for the opportunity to compete in the Slam Dunk Contest, and I want to show my gratitude by putting on a show for the fans. I've definitely got something special up my sleeve, so make sure you get your tickets to watch live!"

Fans will also be treated to two-time World Champion DJ, DJ Woody who will be performing a world-class set as the action from the Slam Dunk Contest unfolds. DJ Woody has performed at gigs and events across the world to thousands of fans and is sure to play some of his very best tracks on the afternoon.

DJ Woody will be followed by the London born, platinum award winning artist, Not3s who will take to the court for the BBL Cup half-time show. Not3s is most well-known for his best-selling hits Addison Lee, My Love and Alladin and fans can expect to be off their seats as he keeps the crowd entertained during the interval.

This adds to a star-studded afternoon of on-court entertainment which sees cities collide as the London Lions do battle with the Leicester Riders in both the WBBL/BBL finals. With some of the WBBL and BBL’s biggest names aiming to take home the first major silverware of the season, it is an afternoon not to be missed!
