Thousands of jobs at some of the UK’s biggest brands are available at the upcoming Birmingham Jobs Fair.

Taking place tomorrow (Wednesday 30th March) at Edgbaston Cricket Ground, the Birmingham Jobs Fair will give people the chance to meet employers face-to-face and potentially be interviewed for a role on the very same day. The event boasts over 80 stands with employers from major sectors across construction, health, transport, hospitality, retail, education, IT, and even the upcoming Commonwealth Games 2022.

Organisations including Greggs, HSBC, Ocado, JD Sports, and Birmingham Airport will all be actively recruiting at the event so attendees are encouraged to bring along an up-to-date CV. Attending the event will also be Ian Bell, former Warwickshire County Cricket Club batsman, and Issy Wong, current bowler for Warwickshire, Central Sparks, and Birmingham Phoenix.

The cricket stars will be there to meet job seekers at the home of some of their most famous sporting achievements. Not only that but there will also be stands offering career support, help with CV writing, and mental health advice for those unhappy with their current working situation.

Andy Street, the Mayor of the West Midlands, said: "The West Midlands has - like all areas - been hit hard by Covid but we are working hard to ensure that, as a region, we bounce back as soon as possible and return to the economic growth we were seeing pre-pandemic. Local people deserve flexible and tailored programmes of learning that build their confidence, enhance their wellbeing, and give them better career opportunities.

"The Birmingham Jobs Fair will have over 80 employers actively recruiting for thousands of jobs for local people - with some even providing job interviews right there on the day. I encourage anybody looking for work to come on down and see what there is on offer – you could very well end up walking away having secured a brand-new career path.”

The Birmingham Jobs Fair has been developed in association with West Midlands Combined Authority, Birmingham City Council and JobCentre Plus.

Councillor Ian Ward, leader of Birmingham City Council, said: “The Birmingham Jobs Fair will offer a fantastic opportunity for anyone looking for employment to find new work, training opportunities, and employment advice. Our previous jobs fairs have helped thousands of people to find work and helped local employers to fill their vacancies.

“This is a Golden Decade of Opportunity for Birmingham and we are attracting a record level of investment, which means new jobs and careers for our citizens. I am determined to make sure that these opportunities are shared right across our city.”

Cllr George Duggins, WMCA portfolio holder for productivity and skills, and leader of Coventry City Council said: “The Birmingham Jobs Fair is a fantastic opportunity for people to meet local employers and have interviews right there on the day.

“Despite the West Midlands being badly hit by Covid-19, we’re coming out the other side of it now with vacancies within construction, health, hospitality, retail, logistics – and even the upcoming Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games – all up for grabs. I’d encourage anyone that finds themselves out of work, or anybody just looking for a new career path, to sign up and come along.”

Birmingham Jobs Fair takes place from 9:30 am – 4:00pm on Wednesday 30th March at Edgbaston Cricket Ground, Edgbaston Rd, Birmingham B5 7QU. Last year’s event attracted more than 1,000 jobseekers, so we’re expecting another popular Jobs Fair. Those who have booked a time slot will be given priority over walk-ins on the day.
