Thinking of studying with Wolverhampton’s “Outstanding” Adult Education Service? People are invited to come along to an open afternoon next week showcasing courses designed to give people the skills they need to go on to university or enter the world of work. Level 3 qualifications are A-level standard. Subjects include Art and Design, British Sign Language (BSL), Health, Social Science, Teacher Training, Childcare and Teaching Assistants.

Aston University is calling on all past students and staff nationwide to get in touch and join in its 50th anniversary celebrations, which take place this year. The University hopes that alumni from all over the UK (and beyond) will use the celebrations as a reason to reconnect with former friends and colleagues.  

Construction skills shortages are pushing wages in the sector far above the national average, but could also put at risk some of the Government’s biggest housing and infrastructure programmes, the latest survey by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) has revealed. Average construction earnings have risen by more than 6% nationally in the year to October – a marked increase on the average UK wage rise over the same period of under 2%.

Patients who have lost their hand functions due to injuries or nerve-related conditions, such as stroke and muscular dystrophy, now have a chance of restoring their hand movements by using a new lightweight and smart rehabilitation device called EsoGlove developed by a research team from the National University of Singapore (NUS).

Education chiefs have hailed the redevelopment of another Wolverhampton school – the last being completed as part of a multi-million pound transformation of secondary education in the city. Councillor Claire Darke, the City of Wolverhampton Council's Cabinet Member for Education, took a tour of Heath Park School's stunning new home – and gave it top marks.
