Wolverhampton Art Gallery has this week welcomed some additional visitors from the game that has taken over the world! Head to the digital emporium to help catch Pokémoncharacters like Drowzee, Nidoran, Poliwag, Jynx, and Squirtle to name but a few! With different Pokémon appearing each day it is making it easier for gamers in Wolverhampton to catch them all – and a new lure will be added to the site on Sunday to entice more characters.

The gallery has a number of PokéStops where you will find some of the rarer characters, located at key points around the site. PokéStops are usually placed on locations of interest or tourist spots and are popular attractions for players as they deliver items such as PokéBalls (to catch other Pokémon), Potions and Revives (to heal or revive a fainted Pokémon) and are integral to the game.

Wolverhampton Art Gallery Manager of Arts and Culture, Marguerite Nugent, said: “Since the game launched last week we have been very excited to see where and which Pokémon Go characters have been popping up. “We are discovering new ones every day and we are very excited to be creating a new lure on Sunday. As a free site, we welcome children, young adults and adults who are playing Pokémon Go to come and join us in search of their favourite characters.”

Cherry Kane-Horton, Marketing Assistant and Junior Promoter, added: “It is a great way to get people of all ages out and about and see the local sites whilst having fun.”

The summer holidays are upon us and the Lichfield Street gallery is open daily Monday to Saturday (10.30am – 4.30pm) and now Sunday’s (11am – 4pm). The café opens Monday to Sunday (10.30am – 4.30pm).

Admission is FREE meaning players can have hours of fun throughout the summer catching the loveable Pokémon.
