City of Wolverhampton Council shared the new Wolverhampton Investment Prospectus for the first time at the UK Real Estate, Investment & Infrastructure Forum (UKREiiF). The Council is showcasing Invest Wolves opportunities to thousands of investors, funders and developers at the event in Leeds between 17 and 19 May, ahead of some major development announcements this year.
Leader, Councillor Ian Brookfield, unveiled the new digital prospectus during the ‘Wolverhampton – The National Centre for Sustainable Construction’ panel event. The Council is also working closely with city partners and stakeholders to continue shaping the online document, so it encompasses further changes in project development and delivery.
The prospectus reflects the changes brought about by the pandemic and presents an ambitious vision of how the city can grow – highlighting opportunities to build on the £4.4billion of public and private sector investment already on site or in the pipeline in Wolverhampton. Cllr Brookfield was also joined by Council Chief Executive, Tim Johnson, for the UKREiiF announcement, plus key city growth partners, to explain why the city is establishing itself as the National Centre for Sustainable Construction and what leading the way on Levelling Up really means.
Delegates heard about future partnership opportunities and development schemes as outlined in the prospectus. Panellists also included Rob Valentine, Director at Bruntwood, and Alison Crofton, National Development Director at Homes England.
Cllr Brookfield said: “The previous City Centre Investment Prospectus was launched in 2019 and much has changed in the last three years. The pandemic has led us to rethink how we use our spaces, the city has been identified as a trailblazer for the Government’s Levelling Up agenda, and we have continued to see significant investment – despite the pandemic - making a difference in the city.
“We now have an incredible opportunity to secure even more investment and to do this we need to prioritise, package and promote more of our ambitious and exciting pipeline projects. Unlike previous prospectuses, this one will be a live digital resource that will continue to evolve to reflect the changes in project development and delivery - and the changing needs of our city, of our businesses and our residents.”
