nternational tourists are travelling across English regions in record numbers, and they are spending more too. Official statistics released today show that in the first nine months of 2016 there were a record-breaking 12.2 million visits to English regions outside London, up 4% compared to the same period in 2015.  Spend by international visitors across England’s regions also set a record during this period, up 2% to £5.9 billion.

The Empire State Building (ESB) Observatory has announced the launch of its official Empire State Building Observatory Experience App, which guides visitors through the icon's extraordinary exhibits and views with additional in-depth information on the building's history. 2017 marks 50 years since the death of Ernesto 'Che' Guevara, bringing to an end the career of arguably the world's most iconic revolutionary. Best known for his role alongside Fidel Castro in Cuba, Che actually died in Bolivia, at the hands of CIA-trained Bolivian Special Forces, amid the jungles and ravines of the Quebrada del Yuro. This wild and remote part of Bolivia has always been difficult to reach, but this year, South America specialists RealWorld will be running special anniversary tours to the area, and to all the sites associated with Che in Bolivia.

12 months to celebrate and promote the contribution of the tourism sector to building a better world. This is the major goal of the International Year of Sustainable Tourism for Development 2017. The United Nations General Assembly declared 2017 as the International Year of Sustainable Tourism for Development recalling the potential of tourism to advance the universal 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
