The City of Wolverhampton Council is marking the Queen's official 90th birthday by inviting local residents who are celebrating the same milestone in 2016 to a tea party with the Mayor. It will take place in the Mayoral Suite at the Civic Centre from noon on Saturday 11 June, with guests enjoying an afternoon tea fit for the Queen with a selection of sandwiches, cakes and drinks.

Places are limited, and so the call is going out for people to nominate a friend or relative who lives within the Wolverhampton area and turns 90 in 2016 for an invitation. The deadline for nominations is Friday 13 May, and the lucky recipients will be selected at random after that date.

Anita Cund from the Mayor's Office said: "We are looking forward to inviting dozens of 90-year-olds and their guests to join us as we celebrate the Queen's official birthday weekend, and we'd love to hear from people who would like to nominate a friend or relative to be part of what should be a very special occasion.

“We held a similar event for children last year to mark the occasion of the Queen becoming our longest reigning monarch, and we thought it would be nice to do something for local residents who were born in 1926 and so are celebrating their 90th birthday this year.”

To make a nomination, please call the Mayor's Office on 01902 554090.
