To launch Children's Mental Health Week, a discussion between 14 year actor Jordan Nash and the students of Springwell School in Hounslow was organized focusing on the critical importance of mental health. Speaking on his personal experience battling and overcoming mental health issues, Jordan gave the Year 6 students insight, advice and information on how they can manage their mental health.
The North London award winning actor has starred in the lead role of Come Away with Angelina Jolie, David Oyelowo and Michael Caine, the live action Disney film Aladdin and Oliver: Lagos to London for which he won a BBC Audio Drama Awards 2021 for Best Debut Performance. Jordan was recently seen in the main role of the John Lewis Christmas Advert 2021 titled ‘Unexpected Guest’.
Jordan said: "So five years ago I suddenly found myself trying to dig myself out of a black hole.
“Everything may have seemed perfect to those looking at my life from the outside, but behind closed doors, mentally I was a hot mess. A friend was going through a similar problem recently and that's when I realised this is more common than people think.
“As I have been able to overcome my own experience, I decided more needs to be done to help other children and began my journey to spread the word and raise more awareness." Children's Mental Health Awareness Week (which started February 7) runs until February 13, 2022.
