Birmingham-based medtech company Eyoto is heading Stateside next month, to debut its revolutionary Aetheia technology, the world’s only automated and fully remote, 4K slit lamp.
After making waves in the UK, Eyoto is heading to the Vision Expo (March 11-14) in Orlando, Florida - the biggest trade show for eyecare in the US. The team will be showcasing alongside DigitalOptometrics, who are the leading provider of tele-optometry and remote ophthalmic care solutions in the United States.
Originating as a spin-out from Aston University's School of Optometry in 2013 - and still based in Aston - Eyoto has grown into a leader in optical innovation. The company’s flagship device, Aetheia, is an automated 4K digital slit lamp that uses AI-enabled automation to allow non-clinically trained staff to record any exam procedure required for asynchronous clinical review, or offer full remote control allowing clinicians to deliver expert eyecare from anywhere in the world.
In December 2025, the UK’s largest provider of NHS cataract surgery, SpaMedica, announced the rollout of Aetheia:Auto across its entire hospital network - a huge success story that Eyoto hopes to mirror in the US market after already working with a major retailer in the States. Designed to provide consistent, high-quality assessments across multiple sites and in various care settings, Aetheia helps providers expand access to eyecare, improve workflow efficiency and enhance patient experience through more scalable and sustainable service models.
Powered by Eyoto’s Auto-Optometry, Aetheia delivers sharp, consistent images with minimal operator input. It reduces training requirements and reliance on locum staff, while freeing clinicians to focus on diagnosis and treatment, rather than image acquisition. Simon Collingridge, CEO at Eyoto, said: “We’ve already made huge headway in the US market and showcasing Aetheia at one of the country’s major trade shows represents another significant milestone in our growth strategy.
“Our goal is to expand access to high-quality eye examinations globally, supporting clinicians and patients alike with technology that delivers faster, smarter and more precise eye care. Whether it’s in high-volume retail clinics or hospitals, Aetheia is designed to adapt to any care setting to improve patient access, streamline workflow and enhance the overall patient experience.”
Eyoto will be showcasing alongside their US partner DigitalOptometrics in the US, on Stand 3021 during Vision Expo in Orlando (Mar 11-14) and on Stand N45 at 100% Optical in London (Excel, Feb 28-Mar 2). They are a UK-based medtech company developing advanced ophthalmic imaging and digital diagnostic technologies that help modernise how eye care is delivered.
Its flagship platform, Aetheia, is an automated 4K digital slit lamp that combines AI-enabled automation with local and fully remote control, supporting assisted clinical examinations through Eyoto’s proprietary Auto-Optometry capability. Designed to support consistent, high-quality assessments across multiple sites, Aetheia helps providers expand access to care, improve workflow efficiency, and enhance patient experience through more scalable and sustainable service models.
