The Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) have announced the launch of a national Trophy Tour of Great Britain with the Davis Cup by BNP Paribas, following Great Britain’s historic win against Belgium, hoisting the Trophy for the first time in 79 years. The LTA want the nation to help celebrate this momentous occasion by delivering a Trophy Tour that will begin in Scotland from the start of April and will be visiting every county and major tennis tournament over the coming months.

The Davis Cup Trophy Tour will visit over 50 venues across the nation including tennis clubs, parks, communities, leisure centres, town halls and shopping centres. Some venues will have special appearances from members of the Aegon GB Davis Cup Team who helped Great Britain to victory. The Trophy Tour aims to thank the tennis community including players, coaches, venues and volunteers who have supported the team on this incredible journey and inspire a new generation to pick up a racket and get involved in tennis. The events are free for all to attend and venues hosting a Davis Cup Trophy Tour can be found at; www.lta.org.uk/daviscuptrophytour with the opportunity to have a once in a lifetime opportunity to see the Davis Cup Trophy up close.

Ahead of the reigning winners’ tie against Japan, in Birmingham on the 4th – 6th March, the Trophy will be visiting the West Warwickshire Tennis Club, where Aegon GB Davis Cup player Dan Evans trained as a youngster. Captain, Leon Smith has given some lucky children an exclusive opportunity to see and be pictured with the Trophy, as well as meeting some of the Great British team themselves.

Leon Smith, Davis Cup Captain, adds;Winning the Davis Cup was an incredible moment for me and all the team. Lifting the trophy on the court in Gent was an amazing feeling and I’m eager to ensure a lasting legacy following this historic achievement. Taking the trophy across the country and being able to share this momentous achievement with the nation is an important part of this legacy. I can’t wait to see everyone’s reaction when they see the Davis Cup and sharing a bit of that passion we had on court will hopefully encourage others to get involved and choose tennis as part of their everyday lives.

Cathie Sabin, LTA President, adds; “Winning the Davis Cup is something many nations only ever dream of and to be able to share this incredible achievement with the British people and the fans that loyally supported the team all the way, is a special moment for all. Success has a way of inspiring and captivating a nation and we want to use this Trophy Tour to bring more children and adults into our great sport and thank the tennis community for believing we could do it.”
