With less than two weeks to go until the season opener in Xiamen, China on April 26, the world's biggest stars are continuing to plot their path to the Wanda Diamond League Final in Zurich.

The last week has seen a number of big names confirm their attendance at various Diamond League meetings and set the stage for some enthralling battles on the Road to the Final this year. One of the fiercest rivalries in track and field is set to resume in the Diamond League this season, as Jakob Ingebrigtsen and Josh Kerr go head to head in the men's 1500m in London on July 19.

Kerr and Ingebrigtsen's ferocious competitiveness has bubbled away furiously since the Brit stunned his Norwegian rival at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest in 2023. Ingebrigtsen has tended to come out on top in the Diamond League, most recently with a victory in Zurich last September.

As he bids for a fifth career Diamond League title in 2025, the Norwegian star will once again have to deliver against the very best in his discipline. As well as his 1500m clash with Kerr in London, he will also go up against Olympic gold and silver medallists Cole Hocker and Yared Nuguse in the Bowerman Mile at Eugene's Prefontaine Classic on July 5.

The clash in the men's mile is not the only high-profile Olympic rematch announced in the past week. In Doha, Olympic champion Winfred Yavi is set to go up against her fellow medallists Peruth Chemutai and Faith Cherotich in the women's 3000m steeplechase.

While Cherotich heads into the clash as reigning Diamond League champion, Yavi also delivered her best performances on the WDL circuit last season, coming within a whisker of the world record in Rome in August. This year, Rome is once again getting ready to host a plethora of Olympic champions, with Valarie Allman (women's discus), Thea LaFond (women's triple jump), Quincy Hall (men's 400m ) and Hamish Kerr (men's high jump) all confirmed for the Pietro Mennea Golden Gala on June 6.

The Wanda Diamond League is the elite one-day meeting series in global athletics. It comprises 15 of the most prestigious events in global track and field. Athletes compete for points at the 14 series meetings in a bid to qualify for the two-day Wanda Diamond League Final, which will be held in Zurich on 27th and 28th August 2025.

As the only series which consistently unites the world's best across both track and field disciplines, this year's Diamond League also provides the perfect chance for athletes to cut their teeth ahead of the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo in September.
