A renowned film and TV artist is bringing the lost world of the dinosaurs to life as part of a major new attraction at Birdland. The Bourton-on-the-Water visitor attraction has enlisted the skills of British scenic artist Greg Winter to recreate prehistoric settings as part of 'Jurassic Journey' which features more than 30 different life-size dinosaurs and is set to open later this month.

Greg, 40, is helping to design an interactive prehistoric trail through the park as well as a special dinosaur excavation area for younger visitors featuring fossils and dinosaur skeletons.

For the Bournemouth Arts Institute graduate the new attraction is an opportunity to create some lasting artworks.

“I've worked as a scenic artist for a lot of the major films including Disney's Into the Woods, Batman Begins, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and two of the James Bond movies as well as high profile TV series including Game of Thrones and, most recently, Poldark,” said Greg.

“It's fantastic to be involved in such high profile projects, but they're not designed to last beyond the end of the filming so it's also very rewarding to get involved with this type of work which will hopefully be around for many years to come and be enjoyed by thousands of visitors to the Park.

“Placing the life-size dinosaurs within the trail has been an interesting challenge to make them fit naturally into the landscape, to create a story-line, and to work with the living bird species showing how birds have descended from dinosaurs,” he added.

'Jurassic Journey' will take visitors on a fascinating expedition back through time to an era when dinosaurs roamed the earth.

Armed with special dinosaur tracker kits, visitors will be able to venture in to a Jurassic-themed landscape which is home to more than 30 different dinosaurs ranging from a metre-long baby stegosaurus to a 5-metre tall Brachiosaurus.

Visitors will also be able to spot giant dinosaur eggs along with complete dinosaur skeletons.

As well as providing an exciting new attraction for visitors, the 'Jurassic Journey' trail is also a reminder that today's bird species are directly descended from dinosaurs.
