Multi global medallist Femke Bol will race in the women’s 400m Hurdles at the London Athletics Meet on Sunday 23 July. The Dutch athlete has been one of the leading super stars of the sport in recent times, winning 400m hurdles bronze at the Tokyo Olympic Games, before achieving double silver at the World Championships in Oregon, followed by a hattrick of gold medals at the European Championships in 2022.

Bol holds the third quickest time in history in the women’s 400m hurdles with 52.03 which was set at the Tokyo Olympic Stadium in 2021, so she is one of the greatest athletes of all-time in her discipline. The European record holder has also dominated the Wanda Diamond League over the past two seasons having taken home the Diamond League Final trophy in both 2021 and 2022.

At only 23-years-old, the Dutch athlete has taken the sport by storm, and is equally impressive on the 400m flat, sealing the world indoor record earlier this year with a time of 49.26 in Apeldoorn. On competing at the London Stadium for the first time in her career, she said: “I am very excited about competing in London for the first time.

“I have only raced in the UK once before, so it will be a brilliant experience to race in front of the crowds. I have heard a lot of good things about the atmosphere in the London Stadium, so it is a meeting I am looking forward to.

“The Diamond League always produces high quality races, and I have enjoyed some great performances over the last couple of years in the series. Having won the Diamond League Final in the last two years, I will be trying to win a third this year. London is a key race in achieving that goal, so I am excited to race there in July.”
