Hungerford-based David Wilson Homes has donated £1,500 to Alexander Devine Children's Hospice Service to support its services in the community.

Alexander Devine is a local charity that provides specialised care and vital support to children with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions, as well as their families, across Berkshire and into surrounding counties. The £1,500 donation from David Wilson Homes will contribute to the support of the charity’s essential children’s hospice services.

The funding is crucial for providing care for more children with complex medical needs and supporting their families, ensuring the sustainability and growth of the vital work provided by Alexander Devine. The charity’s holistic approach tailors support services such as Respite care, Specialist play, Symptom management, Family support, End of life care, and Bereavement support to meet the unique needs of each child and family.

Tai Bishop, Lead for Corporate Partnerships at Alexander Devine, said: “We were delighted to be chosen for this kind donation from David Wilson Homes.

“We are a local charity that is nearly entirely reliant on fundraising and donations to run our vital children’s hospice service for children with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions. This donation will make such a positive difference to those children and families that rely on our services."

Alexander Devine currently supports over 200 families, but there are more than 2,765 children with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions local to the charity’s operations. Donations such as this enable the charity to continue expanding its services to meet the growing demand and ensure that it continues to support children and their families providing them the best possible care and support.

Campbell Gregg, Managing Director at David Wilson Homes Southern, said: "At David Wilson Homes, we believe in making a positive impact on the communities we serve, and supporting the vital work of local charities like Alexander Devine is a meaningful way for us to give back.

“We commend the exceptional efforts of Alexander Devine to provide specialised care and support to children and their families, and we are proud to be part of its journey in making a difference in the lives of those facing life-limiting conditions.” The developer’s donation was made as part of its Community Fund scheme via The Barratt Foundation, which is run by its parent company, Barratt Developments, and is designed to support national and local charities, large and small, across the UK to leave a legacy in the communities in which the housebuilder operates.

The developer’s Community Fund scheme has been commended by Tai, who added: “The scheme is a wonderful and generous way for local charities like ours to benefit from much-needed funding. We can’t thank David Wilson Homes enough for its kindness.”
