It was tears all round, backstage, on Britain's Got Talent, when 14-year-old Jasmine Elcock’s rendition of Cher's Believe left both Ant and Dec emotion - pulling at their ‘heartstrings’ to the point of them, without reservation, sending her straight through as their Golden Buzzer act. But, having wowed them, and the judges, there were some people who were not, for whatever reason, that convinced.
The 14-year-old became embroiled in controversy with some people going as far as saying Ant and Dec "wasted" their Golden Buzzer press, feeling that as she's already preformed as Annie in the West End she shouldn't be on BGT.
A Britain's Got Talent spokesperson said: "Britain's Got Talent is open to anyone irrespective of their past experience and all acts are auditioned on merit on the day."
Presenter, Ant McPartlin, said afterwards: "I was in tears back there!"
Dec added: "You deserved it."
Also in tears was judge, Alesha Dixon, with fellow judges; Simon Cowell, David Walliams and Amanda Holden all suitably impressed with Jasmine vocals too.
Speaking before her performance, young Jasmine admitted to nerves, saying: "I've performed in Annie in the West End at about the age of nine or 10, but I was really nervous on Britain’s Got Talent."
