Hobbycraft, the UK’s largest arts and crafts retailer, will be opening its brand-new store based at the Battery Retail Park, in Selly Oak, in Birmingham.
To celebrate, Hobbycraft will be hosting a grand opening event on Saturday 9th March at 9:00am, during which customers will be able to enjoy a selection of product offers, live craft demonstrations, a FREE Snazaroo Face Painting stand, a Snazaroo golden-ticket giveaway and free goody bags for the first 100 customers. Hobbycraft Salisbury has created 10 new jobs in the local area, who will form a dedicated team on hand to help customers with expert craft advice and a friendly service seven days a week.
An introduction to some of the new colleagues can be found below, alongside their crafting passion, helping local community members get to know the team ahead of the opening. Store Manager, Dave Williams, said: “We are really looking forward to opening the doors to our Salisbury store and sharing our passion for arts and crafts with the local community.
“Over the last few years, we have seen more people than ever take up crafting and we want to encourage locals to come down to the new store and share their crafting experience. We look forward to providing Salisbury customers with the ultimate retail experience, combined with fantastic crafting products at great prices.”
Knitting Expert, Ella, said: “I love the range of yarn we sell – how versatile it is, the amount of colours, types and how many different things you can make with it. I am following in the footsteps of my great nan and enjoy seeing my creations go from a colourful ball to a wardrobe staple!”
Sewing Expert, Mary, said: “I love the haberdashery range, from the tools to the fabric they all help me to create new items from scratch and upcycle old items that make them so unique to me!” Liz, a Papercraft Expert said: “I love all crafts and will turn my hand to try anything! My go-to is mainly papercraft, and my favourite product is the trusty glue gun, as there’s not much it can’t be used for, from up cycling to fixing.
“I wouldn’t be the crafter I am today without one. Baking Expert, Faye, added: “I love all types of baking and sugarcraft. You can create so many things out of sugarpaste, I love how versatile it is!
“My favourite product is the jars. I use them for jam making and for storing herbs and spices. There’s always a use for them in any home.” Darren, a Model Making Expert, said: “Models are a passion on mine.
“Steam engines is where it all started, and I really enjoy the patience it teaches me and the essence of satisfaction on completion”. Art Expert, Amy, said: “Art is my passion.
“I love to lino print, whether that be recreating a picture I’ve taken or making my Christmas cards for friends and family, it’s so satisfying to carve out an image and experiment different ways to print your design!” Upon opening its doors on the 5th March, customers will be able to browse the retailers’ extensive range of crafting products from baking, home craft, papercraft, knitting, sewing, kids’ crafts and model making to accessories for weddings, celebrations and much more.
Customers can take advantage of a selection of offers available across the Hobbycraft range during the store’s grand opening on Saturday 9th March and have the chance to enjoy a FREE goody bag which will be given out to the first 100 customers. Hobbycraft will also be hiding a golden-ticket in-store during the grand opening, with one lucky customer having the chance to win a £50 Snazaroo prize bundle.
Hobbycraft Selly Oak will also be hosting FREE in-store craft demonstrations for customers to get involved in throughout its first month of opening, including a Decoupage Workshop with a Decopatch Expert on the 16th March, and a Digital Crafting Demonstration with a Cricut Expert on the 23rd. The Selly Oak store will offer customers a range of experiences and dedicated craft spaces, including craft workshops, a digital cutting area, and a haberdashery area.
