BBQ parties are set to become a whole lot more exciting for vegetarians. While veggie burgers and sausages have been around for years Monday will see the launch of the UK's first ever cauliflower and mushroom BBQ steaks. The launch, by Tesco, comes at a time when demand for vegetarian food is on the rise. In the last year the supermarket has seen sales for chilled vegetarian ready meals soar by nearly 20 per cent.

Highly recognisable from her appearances on BBC1's 'Saturday Kitchen', wine expert Susy Atkins will be headlining the exciting line up of The Shops at Dartington's interactive workshops and demonstrations at their free Food Fair on Sunday 29th and Monday 30th May.  Susy will be hosting a lively session showcasing the county's finest producers and sharing her knowledge on the region's best drinks including wines, ciders, ales and soft drinks. 

Leiths is inviting 7-11 year olds to four days of fun cooking and art activities this summer. The West London school is re-launching Kids Kitchen, in partnership with creative oasis Kite Studios. The cookery activities have all been designed by the Leiths chefs (and parents!) to be fun, to teach important life skills, and to sneakily include fruit, vegetables and whole grains wherever possible!

The BBC Good Food Show Summer, are excited to welcome the winners of this year’s Producers Bursary Award Scheme to the event taking place from  16-19 June at the NEC, Birmingham. It's been the seaside's best kept secret for decades, even centuries, but now demand for the salty coastal sea plant samphire, which goes particularly well with fish, is soaring. In the last year demand for samphire has soared by 80 per cent at Tesco, thanks to its popularity on TV cookery shows like BBC TV's Saturday Morning Kitchen and Channel Four's Sunday Brunch.

Nyetimber, producer of England's finest sparkling wine, is today announced as the naming partner of the Sky Bar on British Airways i360. The Nyetimber Sky Bar is set to become the most unique bar in the UK, located inside British Airways i360's aerodynamically designed glass pod. Customers will glide slowly up to 138m for 360-degree views of Sussex while enjoying a glass of Nyetimber's Classic Cuvee sparkling wine and other drinks from the South Downs region.

Chips are West Midlands’ favourite junk food with chocolate coming in second place, a new survey conducted by World Cancer Research Fund has found. The survey comes as the cancer prevention charity launches its new “Dump the Junk” campaign for Cancer Prevention Week. The survey also revealed that in the UK more than a quarter of Brits (27%) have named chocolate as their favourite junk food, with a third (33%) of women picking the sugary snack as their ultimate guilty pleasure.

Yorkshire based Feel Free For Gluten Free is developing a gluten free jam donut, having listened to feedback from its customers. A recent online survey and Twitter poll conducted by the free from food brand revealed that the type of donuts missed most by people on a gluten free diet are jam donuts. Feel Free asked consumers to choose between jam donuts, custard donuts, glazed donuts and churros to help direct product development for their gluten free donut range.

A joyful shot of a baker having fun with flour while making bread by British photographer Mark Benham has seized this year's crown at Pink Lady® Food Photographer of the Year 2016, the world's leading celebration of the art of food photography and film. Bath-based Benham was presented with the £5000 prize by Andy Macdonald, who heads up Pink Lady® in the UK, headline sponsor of the Awards.

Tesco has today announced a number of measures which will see it source even more of the seafood it sells in a sustainable way, in partnership with the Marine Stewardship Council.  This month, Tesco introduced the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) ecolabel across 28 different types of chilled prepacked fish – including cod fillets, smoked kippers, haddock fishcakes and fish fingers.
