Nottingham's premier Christmas entertainment attraction is back with a bang as The Mellors Group, working with Nottingham City Council, bring the Sky Skate ice path to Nottingham's Winter Wonderland in Old Market Square for the first time.

Available all November until New Year's Eve festive fun seekers will be able to skate for 400m around the Old Market Square, metres above the crowds exploring the sixty stall Christmas market offering everything from hand-made gifts to delicious food and mulled wine from local and international traders.

They can stop off along the way at the new for ‘22 Skate-Through bar.

Maybe heights are not your thing. Don’t worry, there will be an ice rink at ground level where you will also find the not to be missed Ice Bar. The temperature drops to minus 10 degrees, but gloves and coats are provided and it’s a super popular experience. Book early to avoid disappointment. There’s nowhere better to celebrate Christmas with workmates, or just mates, than in the Sur La Piste or Altitude ski chalet bars that are also the perfect, cosy and intimate spot for friends and family to get together to enjoy a drink or two.

Or to tuck into great food from Melt & Grill, the in-house kitchen, while enjoying the live entertainment programme. To be sure of a seat for you and your pals you can book tables online in advance. Of course, Nottingham’s civic Christmas tree will be the focal point of this year’s event, but your eye will surely be caught by the observation wheel that will stand in front of The Council House offering views across the twinkling lights of the city. Book in advance for fast-track priority access.

If you want to really treat yourself, your loved one, your whole family or all your staff, then Sky Skate VIP, that means a rink side table with food and drink plus on-off access to the ice path, could be just what you’re looking for. Sky Skate AAA is an all- inclusive offer that adds-on the Ice Bar experience and a ride on the Observation Wheel.

Corporate and group party bookings are especially welcome. The Mellors Group can tailor their offer to suit your needs and desires. The much-loved toboggan ride will return, there will be some rides for your small people too, and what would Winter Wonderland be without the Helter Skelter bar?

Winter Wonderland will be open until December 31st. Super off- peak and off-peak reduced price skating tickets are available on Mondays to Thursdays outside of the school holidays and a special all-attractions family ticket will be available from Boxing Day to and New Year’s Eve.

Edward Mellors of the Mellors Group said: “It’s great to be bringing Winter Wonderland back to Old Market Square for Christmas. We’re truly excited that this year, alongside our already popular bars and attractions, we are introducing the Sky Skate ice path that will provide a truly unique ice-skating experience. After a tough couple of years for everyone I think Nottingham needs to be both optimistic and ambitious this Christmas. It’s time to come together again, to celebrate, and to have fun.”

Councillor Pavlos Kotsonis, Portfolio Holder for Leisure, Culture and Planning at Nottingham City Council, said: “We are proud to offer residents and visitors this exciting centrepiece for Christmas in Nottingham. Winter Wonderland will bring people into the city centre, not only from Nottingham but the wider region. I’m sure the new skating layout will be a hit with visitors. We’re pleased that by working with the Mellors Group, we are able to stage this fantastic festive attraction at no cost to local taxpayers.”

All Winter Wonderland bars and attractions are open for walk-up customers but to avoid disappointment it’s best to book tickets and tables, especially for group and corporate bookings in advance.
