As a nation, the Brits have become increasingly fascinated with healthy eating and the food trends of the last few years are evidence of that. The avocado craze is still going strong, healthy cookbooks from Deliciously Ella, Hemsley + Hemsley and Anna Jones are flying off the shelves; and we seem to be more attuned to the effect that our diets have on our health and happiness than ever before.

Understandably, there is a heightened demand for chefs and food businesses that cater for the health conscious consumer. With this in mind, Leiths School of Food and Wine teamed up with healthy gourmet food delivery service, The Pure Package, to design and deliver Nutrition in Practice: The Accreditation.

The course, which runs one day per week for ten weeks, is open to professional and non-professional chefs alike. Students focus on a wide range of topics including portion control; managing food allergies and intolerances; creative, long-term menu-planning for dietary needs; the importance of blood sugar regulation in weight management and food trends of the future.

Aimed at those looking to understand the essentials of nutrition combined while learning practical hands on cookery, Nutrition in Practice has achieved certification by the Nutritional Therapy Education Commission, which praised its 'high quality'.

With the next set of sessions commencing on Wednesday 4th May, Leiths is hosting a coffee morning at the school in West London on 14th April with The Pure Package and local personal trainer, Bianca Sainty.

“We've been thrilled with the response that the course has had in its first year and a half; it's wonderful to see people taking such an active interest in creating delicious, healthy food. We're lucky to be located in a very active community with local businesses, such as Bianca's, reinforcing the significance of the role that nutrition plays in reaching our physical potential.” says Camilla Schneideman, Managing Director of Leiths.
