Madrid, for second consecutive year is hosting the 9th edition of CULTOURFAIR, the only international B2B high-end cultural tourism trade show, opened its doors on October 3rd at the Hotel Princesa Plaza, venue of the event.

The inauguration of the event was held on Sunday, October 2nd, with a welcome reception offered by the newly opened and brand new Hotel Thompson Madrid.

The general director of tourism of the "Comunidad de Madrid", Mr. Luis Martín, together with the general director of the Hotel Thompson, Mr. Carlos Erburu, and Ms. Charo Trabado, CEO of MITM Events, welcomed the more than 100 participants hailing from 23 countries.

On October 3rd, a press conference was held, chaired by Ms. Charo Trabado, CEO of MITM Events, who was accompanied by Ms. Carolina Toledo, Deputy Director General of Tourism of the "Comunidad de Madrid", Mr. Christophe Berger, Director of VisitMalta Incentives & Meetings of the Malta Tourist Office and Mr. Francisco Fuentes Santamaría, Head of Service, Consumption, and Promotion of the Valladolid Provincial Council.

During the press conference at the event venue on the morning of Monday, October 3rd, Charo Trabado, CEO of MITM Events, assured that "For this edition of CULTOURFAIR, once again and with the aim of strengthening the projection of previous years, a worldwide promotional campaign has been carried out in 150 countries directly and through our high-impact media partners."

During her speech, the Deputy Director General of Tourism of the "Comunidad de Madrid", Carolina Toledo "we have already fully recovered international tourism. 3.3 million international tourists have visited the Comunidad de Madrid so far this year." He also thanked Ms. Charo Trabado for holding CULTOURFAIR in Madrid and the success of the event for the second consecutive year.

Mr. Christophe Berger, director of Visit Malta Incentives & Meetings, stated that "In recent years we have worked very hard to increase connectivity between the two countries. In fact, 2019 was a year of maximum connectivity. We had direct connections from most regions of Spain and had a record number of 116,296 visitors. We are very pleased to participate in CULTOURFAIR as a Guest Destination, it is a good opportunity to show the great cultural wealth that Malta has."

The presentation ceremony ended with the words of Mr. Francisco Fuentes Santamarta, head of Service, Consumption, and Promotion of the Valladolid Provincial Council, stated that "wine is culture, and Valladolid is wine. Valladolid has five designations of origin and is home to an important oenological and cultural offer, as well as many luxurious hotels and venues."

CULTOURFAIR aims to position high standing cultural tourism and for this it has selected 50 specialized buyers from more than 300 registered companies from 48 countries, organizers of: luxury trips, events (sports, musical, wine, gourmet, etc.), MICE, city-breaks, heritage, gastronomy, folklore, religious, etc. All of them executives with decision-making power.

During the two intense days of the event, around 2,000 business meetings were held that will have an estimated medium and long-term economic impact of more than 200 million euros.
