To celebrate the Platinum Jubilee, pupils from Wolverhampton have written congratulatory letters to Her Majesty The Queen.

The City of Wolverhampton Council's Education Library Service and Go Write worked in partnership on the project, which saw hundreds of letters submitted by local children.

Youngsters voted for their favourite, with a total of 14 letters selected to be included in a special book, Dear Ma'am, which also featured poems of thanks written by Wolverhampton's talented Young Poet Laureate Jadon St Rose and Primary Poet Champion Rosie Byrne.

The book’s striking cover was designed by children who took part in a digital art session at Central Library over Easter. It was posted to Buckingham Palace by Councillor Jasbir Jaspal, Cabinet Member for Public Health and Wellbeing, on Monday (4 July, 2022).

She said: "This is a delightful book and we hope it brings Her Majesty great joy as she reads the work of our school children, and our two young poets, Jadon and Rosie. Engaging youngsters in creative writing was a very fitting way for our library service to celebrate The Queen's Platinum Jubilee, and I would like to thank the hundreds of pupils who took part and helped us mark this very special occasion."
