Visitors to the Eden Project will be spellbound by spooky illusions, magic shows and bubble wizardry as the spirit of the circus haunts Halloweden this half-term. There will be pop-up performances, puppetry and ringmaster training as well as bewitching owls and pumpkin carving. One of the big attractions will be the bubbleologist and magician the Bubble Wizard who will thrill audiences with his breath-taking bubble sculptures.
From October 22 to 28 the magic and variety act Norvil and Josephine will wow visitors with their feats of illusion, escapology and contortion. And on October 29 and 30 the smallest show on earth will be enthralling audiences in the form of a Victorian flea circus featuring a troupe of minute stars. Every day during Halloweden there will also be a chance to hear story-tellers' tales of the unexpected, do some pumpkin carving and watch an eerie puppet show.
For a fang-tastic evening, the popular Little Monsters' Ball on October 29 will be even bigger this year with two discos and entertainment provided by children's festival organisers Rave-a-Roo and star host MC McMic, played by CBeebies actor Steven Kynman. There'll also be a fire dance by former Cirque du Soleil performers Spark Fire Dance, some creepy crawlies at Bugfest and a trick or treat trail to add to the festivities.
Throughout the week visitors can also enjoy a spine-tingling skate on Eden's ice rink. Polly Randle, Eden Live Programme Lead, said: “This year's Halloweden is a spooky spectacular with lots of circus-themed scares and surprises such as pop-up performances and sideshows of illusions, magic and tricks. “We're really excited to be welcoming the Bubble Wizard to Eden for the first time as well. He'll be creating a real spectacle for visitors by creating amazing giant bubbles in our bubble-like Biomes.”
