A unique scheme through which law students help vulnerable people in Wolverhampton challenge decisions over their benefits has received an award from the city's Law Society. For the last year, students from the University of Wolverhampton’s Law School have provided representation to scores of disabled and vulnerable people when they are challenging the Department of Work and Pensions over the payment of Employment and Support Allowance.

Walsall College Hairdressing students held an Avant-Garde hair show on Monday 23^rd November at the college’s Graduate Academy salon and showcased their creative talents. As part of a Creative Design unit on their course, Level 3 students were set the challenge to come up with experimental and innovative hairdos using different styling techniques.

Schools in the West Midlands can bridge the gap by implementing a support programme which an independent report has found can improve progress in reading by a staggering 55 per cent above national expectations at KS3-4. The report, commissioned by PwC, outlines how schools can increase attainment in the lowest achieving 20 per cent using the programme, run by education charity Achievement for All (AfA), and can invest in it using their pupil premium funding allocation.
