The Gambia Experience, in partnership with conservation organisation *CAPED Gambia (Community Action Platform on Environment and Development), is supporting a tree planting project in Sintet. Providing vital funds through its Carbon Offset Scheme, the tour operator is assisting the planting of over 7000 highly endangered indigenous fruit and nut tree species.

The project which commenced on July 29th aims to make a significant impact on the environment, food security, and entrepreneurship within the region’s vulnerable rural communities. The Gambia Experience has a longstanding partnership with CAPED Gambia and has previously provided funding to support mangrove restoration over 15 hectares of degraded wetland within the villages of Kalimu and Soma.

Discussing their collaboration, Momodou Bah, CEO and founder of CAPED Gambia, conveyed sincere appreciation, stating: "We extend our heartfelt thanks to The Gambia Experience for our ongoing and fruitful partnership on behalf of CAPED and our communities."

In response, Karen Durham, product manager at The Gambia Experience added: “Our successful partnership exemplifies our shared commitment to conservation and giving back to the Gambian community and we are delighted to support this project.” In addition to tree planting, The Gambia Experience has demonstrated its ethical ethos through its Community Development Fund (CDF).

Set up to provide funding and support to villages by matching customer donations and contributing funds in exchange for completed customer holiday questionnaires, it has supported projects that have included the implementation of solar power and the empowerment of women through training on the maintenance of the village schemes.

The Gambia Experience is a trade name of Serenity Holidays, an independent and fully bonded tour operator under ATOL 1866 and a member of ABTOT 5216, ABTA, and AITO. The company is the UK’s leading specialist to The Gambia and offers wide-ranging holidays, wildlife and cultural experiences.

*CAPED Gambia is a grass roots non-profit organisation, based in rural Gambia with a focus on Agriculture, Health Care, Education, Children and Youth Empowerment, which was founded by inspirational conservationist Momodou Inkeh Bah.

Aged just 36, Momodou received the ‘Commonwealth Point of Light 200’ award in October (22/10/21), from 10 Downing Street, in recognition of his shining example of making positive environmental change.
