A brand new bistro restaurant and cocktail bar ‘The Littleton’ has opened in The Hub, an £11m community business and sports venue recently launched by Walsall College on Littleton Street West. The Littleton combines luxurious surroundings and friendly service, with a lively, vibrant atmosphere. Headed up by AA rosette winning chefs, Steve Biggs and Paul Ingleby, former Head Chef at Fairlawns Restaurant, the 40-seat bistro offers a contemporary menu of British inspired cuisine, created using high-quality, fresh, locally sourced ingredients.

Butternut Squash Open Ravioli, The Littleton Burger (made from beef reared in Little Aston) and Chicken Caponata are just some of the culinary delights customers can enjoy while relaxing in the modern design of the interior, which also features a fully licenced bar.

To celebrate the launch, a special four course Christmas menu will available for £15 for bookings throughout December.

11 new members of staff have been appointed to run the bistro including Chef, Ben Griffiths, a former Level 3 Hospitality and Catering student at the college.

Ben said: “After finishing my course in 2014 I went on to work at the Lea Marston Hotel restaurant. When this opportunity to come back to where it all started presented itself, I had no hesitation in jumping at the chance. There’s nothing else like The Littleton in Wasall so it’s quite exciting to be part of the launch.

“I have many good memories of my time at the college and Head Chef, Steve was my tutor. He was someone I really looked up to and I’m looking forward to working alongside him in a professional capacity.”

Bistro Manager, Davinia Biggs, said: “All the regeneration taking place in Walsall is making it a very attractive place to live, work and do business, but unlike Birmingham, it currently offers very little in the way of high-quality bistro dining experiences. The Littleton aims to fill this appetite and offer local residents exciting food in a modern setting.

“As it’s along Walsall’s business corridor, it’s also ideally placed to offer a stylish venue for business lunches and meetings, and for working professionals to relax at the end of the day.”

Four apprentices have also been given the chance to kick start their careers in the hospitality industry after being recruited to the team.

In addition, the bistro will offer the college’s Hospitality and Catering students the opportunity to gain invaluable work experience to help them develop the skills to succeed in their own careers.

Located next to the college’s Wisemore Campus on Littleton Street, The Hub also includes a business incubation centre for start-up businesses, conference and event facilities, a multi-purpose sports hall, dance and fitness studios, gym, spa, sports training and injury clinic!
