Last year, City of Wolverhampton Council held a children's poster competition to highlight the problem of litter on our streets and highways, and in our parks and green spaces. This year the competition is open to all ages and we want you to pen a poem, sing a song or rap, or make a short film about littering, dog fouling or fly tipping.
Entrants need to highlight behaviours they find unacceptable and encourage people to change their ways, take care of their local environment, and show they are proud Wulfrunians. Steve Woodward, Head of Public Realm Services, said: “This is the second year we are running a litter-themed competition.
“We received some really good feedback last year and the calibre of the anti-littering posters was outstanding, with the winning posters displayed on refuse vehicles.
“This year we want to encourage people of all ages to take part and show us how creative they can be.
“People have such strong opinions on issues such as littering, fly tipping and dog fouling, we would like to showcase the best ideas to create a cleaner, greener, better Wolverhampton.”
The prizes are a WV Active membership for one month with unlimited access to the pool and gym; a pair of tickets to the Wolverhampton Grand Theatre panto; and five The Way - Youth Zone Memberships (for competition entrants aged between 8 and 19 years old).
The deadline for entries is Thursday, June 30, 2016.
All shortlisted entries will be posted on both the Wolverhampton Today and WV Clean Facebook pages (subject to suitability) and there will be an on-line public vote to decide who wins the prizes.
