Over thirty thousand people from across the West Midlands went bonkers in bandages today in support of Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity’s fourth annual summer fundraiser – The Big Bandage. Celebrities such as Connie Talbot, UB40, Wolverhampton Wanderers Captain Danny Batth, the cast of Doctors and Aston Villa star Nathan Baker joined a host of businesses, schools, community groups, patients and staff by putting on a bandage and making a donation.

Plus, Jaguar Land Rover covered one of its Jaguar F-PACE cars in bandage-themed artwork, The Cube dressed up its ‘The Lovely People’ statue and Birmingham’s Walkabout even wrapped its building especially for the occasion.

In previous years, The Big Bandage has supported a particular ward or appeal. But the beauty of this year’s event is supporters could choose where their money was donated, meaning they’ll be helping to shape the future of Birmingham Children’s Hospital and make a real difference to the treatment, care and support it offers for generations to come.

Miranda Williams, Public Fundraising Manager at Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity, said: “We have once again been overwhelmed by all of the support we’ve received and would like to say a massive thank you to everyone for their wacky and wonderful fundraising activities. Our supporters have been phenomenal and we’ve had such a brilliant Big Bandage day – we can’t wait until next year already!”

She added: “Although The Big Bandage is a fun campaign, it also has a serious side as it helps to raise vital funds for our fantastic hospital. If you’d like to show your support, there’s still plenty of time. Simply text BANDAGE to 70099 to donate £2 and make a big difference to the brave patients treated at our hospital.”
