Two housing developers have teamed up to deliver festive cheer to a Newark charity dedicated to supporting families with young children facing life’s challenges.

Barratt Homes North Midlands and David Wilson Homes East Midlands have donated a collection of construction toys to Home-Start Newark, close to their Fernwood Village development in Fernwood. Home-Start Newark plays a crucial role in aiding parents as they navigate the complexities of raising children, offering support to enhance their coping skills, boost confidence, and ultimately build better lives for their families.

The positive impact of this support extends to improved health and well-being and builds stronger family relationships. Some of the donated toys will be utilised within Home-Start Newark's family group activities, in order to create a stimulating and constructive environment for children.

Additionally, as part of the holiday spirit, Home-Start Newark plans to distribute a portion of the toys directly to families in need, ensuring that children receive thoughtful and joyful Christmas presents. Sara Grant, Manager at Home-Start Newark, said: “We are delighted to receive this generous donation from Barratt Homes North Midlands and David Wilson Homes East Midlands.

“The toys will make a wonderful addition to our family group and will be of great benefit to any families who receive them directly. This kind of play stimulates children’s imaginations, fine motor skills and creativity.

“It’s fantastic to link with local businesses in this way, in support of our local community.” Mark Cotes, Managing Director at Barratt Homes North Midlands, said: “We are delighted to be supporting such an excellent charity in its mission to help families and enhance the well-being of children.

“We hope that our donation of construction toys can bring joy and inspiration to the families they reach.” John Reddington, Managing Director at David Wilson Homes East Midlands, added: “We are very grateful for the work of Home-Start Newark and its impact in the community in which we are building.

“We believe in the power of play and learning, and we hope that the toys bring warmth and happiness to the children and families they reach.” To find out more about the charity, get support for your family, apply for their unique volunteering programme, or to make a donation, visit the website at Home-Start Newark.
