A butterfly bank at Meadow Park in East Leake has been enhanced thanks to a donation from a local housebuilder.
David Wilson Homes, which is currently building new properties at The Skylarks in East Leake, contributed just over £150 to Friends of Meadow Park to support the project. The funds were used to purchase an additional 800kg bag of limestone chippings, creating a vibrant habitat for butterflies and other pollinators.
The butterfly bank, currently being built, will serve as a key ecological feature for the community to enjoy. Kevin Gibbons, Chair at Friends of Meadow Park, said: “This is a much-appreciated contribution from David Wilson Homes, which helps us further enhance the biological diversity of our wonderful park.”
Butterfly banks, also known as sunny banks, are designed to mimic chalk grasslands, providing ideal conditions for butterflies to lay eggs and caterpillars to thrive. Rachael Harrison, Sales Director at David Wilson Homes East Midlands, said: “We are delighted to support Friends of Meadow Park with this donation.
“Butterfly banks are a wonderful way to bring nature into local communities and it’s great to see our contribution helping to enhance this ecological feature at Meadow Park. It’s another step in our ongoing commitment to sustainable and environmentally friendly practices across our developments.”
