Tins & Fins, a new beachfront restaurant offering Filipino fusion food and razor-sharp cocktails, is set to open on the Eastern Esplanade, in Margate.

With an emphasis on bold fusion flavours and sharing plates, sweeping seafront views, and a cocktail garden, Tins & Fins will bring a completely new concept to the area. Behind the new venture is a collaboration between award-winning specialists in Filipino food, RAPSA (@Hoxton 100, Rapsa Play, Archway, The Rambling Pig), and hospitality innovator Pete Clucas from Lost Souls Pizza & True Romance in Camden.

With a menu curated by Exec Chef Frances Puyat (formerly of Ottolenghi's Nopi), locals and day trippers can look forward to Pinoy hospitality and a delicious experience from the talented team, experts in delivering good times.

The Food (The Fins) - Get ready for zingy flavours and the freshest fish. As pioneers of 'Kinilaw' (flash-cured fish and seafood), the team has developed punchy hits for the new menu, with specialities including Sea Bream with papaya, coconut milk, and kalamansi ponzu, Tuna Tartare with cucumber, torched peach, and lobster crackers, and Jersey Oysters with ginger and jalapeno salsa.

The on-point 'Inihaw' (chef's skewers), prawn, rib eye, chicken thigh, and pork will all be served with pickled salad and homemade dips. Highlights include prawn with cucumber, pineapple, garlic, chilli, coriander, lime fish sauce, and Rib-Eye with red onion confit butter, lemon juice, soy, and Don Papa peppercorn sauce.

The Drink (The Tins) - The razor-sharp cocktail list will make Tins & Fins a drinking destination as well as a hot spot for authentic Filipino food. Expect Asian-inspired ingredients and exotic flavours such as Don Papa 7-Year Rum, Ume Plum Liquor, horseradish vodka, and homemade lemongrass, chilli, and ginger cordial.

The new venue will be rocking with happy times and a 'Happy Hour' from 5-8 pm midweek and all-day Sunday with two of the same cocktails for £15. There'll be bottomless brunches by the sea too, with bloodies, slushies, and fizz on the menu this summer.

Soft Launch - On Friday, April 26, to celebrate the launch of Tins & Fins – located in the airy conservatory restaurant adjacent to the Esplanade's Selina Hotel – the team will be treating guests to a complimentary signature cocktail and Inilaw (signature Filipino-style skewers.) Spaces are limited, so booking is advisable for the Pinoy party!

From Thursday, April 25, Tins & Fins will be open for breakfast and lunch Thursday –Sunday (12–3 pm) until the restaurant is fully operational for longer opening hours, offering an excellent value bento-box-style lunch menu comprising 1x kinilaw, 2x skewers, rice, salad, and a fruit skewer ideal for beachside dining.

Andrew Zilouf, owner and manager of RAPSA, comments, “Pete and I are so excited to collaborate on this new venture; having previously had success together at Lost Souls Pizza, 100 Hoxton, and old-school industry hotspot Ziloufs, we're ready to go again! Margate is becoming a mecca for innovative food and good times, and that's exactly what we're bringing to town with Tins & Fins.”

Pete Clucas, of Lost Souls Pizza and True Romance, Camden, adds, “It's super exciting to be joining so many of my industry peers down by the sea! There's a strong community feel and wicked vibe to Margate that fits well with the laid-back style of hospitality we're bringing to the area with Tins & Fins.”

The launch of Tins & Fins follows the recent opening of The Rambling Pig by RAPSA, a Filipino fusion gastropub in Ewell, Surrey. In February, the restaurant was listed as a new entrant at number 96 on the highly respected Estrella Damm Top 100 Gastro Pub list—one of only two restaurants in the county to have ranked on the list, voted for by hospitality industry experts.
