Popeyes UK, the home of Louisiana fried chicken, opened the doors to two brand-new restaurants in the West Midlands this morning - at Birmingham Fort Shopping Park and a new drive-thru at Gallagher Retail Park in Wednesbury.
The new restaurants opened their doors at 11am, with Popeyes bringing its signature New Orleans energy and hospitality to the region including a confetti cannon, ribbon cutting and exclusive merch giveaways at both locations. Across the two launches, more than 200 enthusiastic fans queued for a first bite of the world-famous Chicken Sandwich.
At Birmingham Fort Shopping Park, the first fan arrived at 7:30am the day before opening - clocking up a queue time of over 27 hours. Meanwhile, in Wednesbury, eager customers began lining up from 10:30pm the night before launch.

“As soon as I found out it was opening, I knew I had to be first in line. It’s been a long wait, but I’m buzzing to finally try it and see what all the hype’s about!”
Over in Wednesbury, Cameron set up camp at 10:30pm the night before, determined to be first in line. “I saw a video about the opening on TikTok and sent it to my mates.
“They didn’t believe the giveaway was actually happening, so I thought I’d camp out and prove them wrong. I’m a massive fan - the chicken’s always banging and I’ve been counting down the days for this one to open.”
Even more fried chicken fans across the region can now get a taste of the full Popeyes® menu from the new restaurants, including fan-favourites like the Chicken Sandwich, Tenders, and Signature Chicken Wraps in Classic, Spicy, and BBQ. All of Popeyes chicken is halal and marinated for 12 hours in its signature blend of Louisiana seasoning, then hand-breaded and battered to deliver that world-famous ‘shatter crunch,’ complemented by tasty extras like Biscuits and Cajun Gravy.
The new Saucin’ Boneless and Hot Wings range will also be available, featuring bold, New Orleans-inspired flavours: cheesy Garlic Parm, bold BBQ, and spicy Buffalo. Each portion of the Saucin’ range features these iconic flavours over its iconic spicy Hot Wings or all-new boneless chicken breast pieces.

Popeyes Birmingham Fort is now open at Unit FU4, The Fort Shopping Centre, 20 Fort Parkway and Popeyes Wednesbury at Gallagher Retail Park, Axletree Way. Both restaurants feature self-service kiosks and collection points for orders placed online via the Popeyes UK website or app, plus specifically designated ‘Park & Serve’ bays, allowing customers to order and be served by the team from the comfort of their vehicle.
Popeyes Wednesbury will also host a drive-thru lane, making it easy for customers to grab a Chicken Sandwich and enjoy it at home.
