The Fitur 2023 tourism fair has exceeded all its expectations and in its first three days has gathered more than 136,000 professionals, 68% more than last year, surpassing all expectations, according to a first estimate, sources from Ifema informed Europa Press. To these data must be added the digital call of its LIVEConnect platform, which today has 40,000 registrations, 29% more than in 2022.

 

On the first day of Fitur alone, traffic to Ifema Madrid's website registered an all-time high, with 146,000 visits. Thus, the first attendance figures for the International Tourism Trade Fair, which has been held in Madrid since last Wednesday, confirm the success of this major tourism event, which has already exceeded all expectations.

In just its first three professional days, Fitur has brought together a total of 136,000 attendees, which represents 68% more than in 2022, placing it in parameters already very close to the record edition of Fitur held in 2020, where 255,000 visitors were reached. In the digital sphere, Fitur has also registered a major milestone, with traffic to Ifema Madrid's website soaring exponentially on the first day of the fair alone, reaching an all-time record of 146,000 visits.

In this same context, the Fitur LiveConnect digital platform, which complements the fair with a hybrid format of greater temporal and geographic scope, now has more than 40,000 registrations compared to the 31,000 total in 2022. It is estimated that all this movement of arrivals to Fitur generates an impact on the Madrid economy of approximately 400 million euros.

As every year, the fair has enjoyed significant institutional support and visits from authorities from all five continents. As every year, the support of the Royal Household, which put the finishing touch to the opening day with the presence of the King and Queen of Spain, as well as that of the coalition government, stands out.

In addition, Fitur 2023 was visited by the President of Guatemala, Alejandro Eduardo Giammattei, Partner Country of this edition; the President of the Government of Spain, Pedro Sánchez; representatives of the UNWTO; 30 ministers of tourism from different countries; the Ministers of Economy and Social Affairs of Guatemala; six Spanish ministers; fifteen presidents of autonomous communities and tourism councillors from 16 communities, and a hundred ambassadors and business representatives, and mayors of different Spanish towns and cities.

A total of 400 authorities attended this edition of one of the most important tourism fairs in the world. The impact of Fitur 2023 has also been reflected in the wide international media coverage registered during these first three days, with 6,300 accredited journalists, 5,504 national and 510 international journalists from 46 countries.

This is 56% more than in 2022, although the press coverage of the fair during the weekend has yet to be counted. In the social media environment, during the first two days of Fitur there has been a growth in the community of 3,724 followers, so that Fitur's profiles on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn now have a total of 288,557 followers.

In addition, all the publications published during these first days have obtained 1,676,316 impressions. Fitur's Twitter profile was the number one trending topic in Spain during the two days of the fair, with more than 500 mentions per day. On the other hand, a few hours before the opening of the fair to the public, Fitur maintains an estimate of 80,000 visitors.

During these two-day weekends, visitors will have the opportunity to travel the world through the fair's 8 pavilions, obtain information on a wide range of places and even decide on a national or international destination for their next trip. The weekend is completed with a wide range of leisure activities prepared by the exhibitors, from musical performances, gastronomic tastings, craft workshops, cultural and artistic activities, to participate in the many contests and raffles organized for this great occasion.
