Passengers are being urged to plan their journeys in advance ahead of vital engineering work taking place between Rochdale and Manchester Victoria later this month.
Engineering teams will be completing important work on signalling equipment in the Monsall area between Monday 29 June and Friday 3 July. It comes ahead of the construction of a new turnback on the railway outside of Manchester Victoria, which will give train operators more flexibility and free up space for trains at the station.
During the work, replacement buses will run between Rochdale and Manchester Victoria. There will also be amended services to both destinations from a number of other stations.
Francesca Cotgreave, Network Rail sponsor, said: “Creating a new turnback on the approach to Manchester Victoria will provide more options for train operators to give passengers the best possible service and reduce congestion in the area.
“We appreciate that there is never an ideal time to close the railway, but we have worked closely with our partners to reduce disruption to passengers and keep people moving as much as possible. Please check with your train operator or on the National Rail Enquiries website for the latest details.”
Stuart Taylor, Northern’s Director of Service Delivery in Greater Manchester, said: “We’re advising customers to check before they travel as there will be some disruption while these essential engineering works are taking place.
“Rail replacement buses will run between Rochdale and Manchester Victoria and a number of other services will be amended to run at different times.
