Following their victory, India captain, Suryakumar Yadav, said: "It's an unbelievable feeling to be playing in India and leading such a side.

“If someone would have checked my heartbeat, it would have been 160-170 easily. It was a wonderful semi-final but happy to go into the final now. We are going for that title but there will be pressure.

“But the boys will be excited as well. Going to Ahmedabad and playing that final will be a special feeling for all of us." New Zealand opener Finn Allen, who smashed the fastest-ever century in a T20 World Cup game to help defeat favourite South Africa by nine wickets in the first semifinal (off 33 balls), which featured 10 fours and eight sixes – to propel the Kiwis to 173-1 in only 12.5 overs.

Allen’s ruthless power-hitting saw the right-hander smash Marco Jansen for 4-4-6-6-4 to reach one of the most memorable hundreds in the tournament’s history and lift New Zealand to only its second final. The final clash will decide the new T20 world champions after a month of high-voltage matches.
