Lyndon School in Solihull, part of the Summit Learning Trust, welcomed representatives from the Royal Navy into school this term.

Learners took part in an engaging and inspiring session showcasing the wide range of career opportunities available within the Royal Navy, with a particular focus on pathways for women in engineering, aviation and STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) fields. The visit aims to broaden horizons, challenge stereotypes and encourage more young people, especially girls, to consider careers in sectors where women have traditionally been underrepresented.

The session forms part of the school’s wider commitment to raising aspirations, promoting equality and equipping students with the knowledge and confidence to succeed in a rapidly changing world. Syreeta Kapswara, Head of School at Lyndon School said: “We were delighted to welcome the Royal Navy into school.

“This was a fantastic opportunity for our students to hear directly from professionals, learn about exciting career pathways and be inspired to pursue their ambitions in STEM and beyond.” Lyndon School was rated Good by Ofsted in March 2022.

Ofsted inspectors noted that Lyndon School is a happy, friendly and caring place. Leaders are ambitious in their expectations, and they want the very best for their school community.
