Hundreds of people facing the challenges of homelessness will show their strength and determination in overcoming adversity at a national football tournament on Thursday 24 September 2015. Some 40 teams from Salvation Army Lifehouses (residential centres) and supported housing across the United Kingdom will flock to Goals Manchester’s five-a-side pitches for the chance to be lift The Salvation Army’s Partnership Trophy.

The Albion Foundation is pleased to announce that they have teamed up with African Adventures to once again offer supporters an opportunity of a lifetime, consisting of 10 days working with a variety of different community projects in developing areas of south-western Kenya. In July 2016, they are giving people the opportunity to be the charity’s third group trip to sub-Saharan Africa to help give something back to the international community, whilst enjoying a truly remarkable experience.

A new research project to uncover information about the lives of two working class Old Hill girls who were adopted by the well-to-do owner of Haden Hill House in the 1880s is under way. And local history buffs can watch online as the evidence unfolds and the project progresses over the coming months. Curator and visual artist Jo Loki intends to unravel the mystery surrounding Alice Cookin and Bertha Emma Bryant - dubbed Best's Angels for the project.

Housing and homelessness charity Shelter has revealed the potentially devastating impact of government plans to sell off council housing, with new research showing that 5,840 council homes in the West Midlands could face being sold on the private market. The proposed scheme would force council homes worth more than a set threshold for the region to be sold once they become vacant.
