Norfolk developer Barratt and David Wilson Homes Anglia has proudly joined forces with Autism Anglia for a day of volunteering at the charity’s centre in Dereham.
The team, comprising dedicated employees including Joe Rolph, Ashley Telfer, Maria Ghigi, Louise Willis, Mick Coombs, and Andrea Taylor, rolled up their sleeves to repaint the music room at the drop-in centre, bringing a fresh touch to the space that serves as a sanctuary for individuals with autism.
The initiative was sparked by Autism Anglia's receipt of a £1,500 donation through Barratt and David Wilson Homes Anglia’s charity Community Fund. This contact led to a collaborative effort to enhance the facilities at the Anglia Autism centre.
The volunteer work involved redecorating one of the relaxation rooms at the Norfolk Opportunities Centre, ensuring a welcoming and comfortable environment for those accessing the centre’s services.
Expressing his enthusiasm for the initiative, Ashley Telfer, who was part of the volunteer team, highlighted the importance of giving back to the community.
He said: “Volunteering not only helps local charities which provide vital support to communities and nature, but also offers employees an opportunity to have a break from their everyday work to do something different.
“I think it’s great that each employee at Barratt and David Wilson Homes is allocated two volunteer days.”
Anna Rogers, Fundraising and Community Engagement Manager at Autism Anglia, said: “It was lovely to welcome members of staff from Barratt and David Wilson Homes along to Autism Anglia’s Adult Opportunity Centre in Dereham as part of their Volunteering Day.
“Our relaxation room received a fresh coat of paint and is now ready for music and sensory equipment to be moved back in. The team has saved the charity a great deal of time and valuable funds and it was really nice to spend time with them all.”
