Prime Minister Boris Johnson recently visited the newly transformed Alexander Stadium to hear about legacy funding for national governing bodies for sport and to meet with volunteers, batonbearers and medal designers who are all part of the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.

 

The PM also watched young athletes from Birchfield Harriers train at the stadium which is one of the main venues for the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, playing host to the Opening and Closing Ceremonies, as well as the track and field events. He was joined on the visit by Nadine Dorries, Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport.
