During the summer months Worcester Cathedral joined forces with leading local solicitors to offer its supporters the opportunity to write or update their Will in exchange for a donation to the Cathedral.

The campaign ran from June and into the autumn of 2025. Three leading city firms generously gave their time to support the Cathedral through its second annual ‘Make a Will this Summer’ campaign.

The local solicitor partners all offered a number of free Will writing appointments ensuring those in the community could benefit from this important service. Those who took up the appointments were asked to make a donation to Worcester Cathedral, and the initiative raised an impressive £3,626.50.

Director of Fundraising at Worcester Cathedral, Cathy Sloan, said: “We are very grateful to everyone who kindly made a donation to the Cathedral through this scheme and to the lovely solicitors who were extremely generous with their time and expertise.

“Having a Will is so important and by working together we can enable more people to have this critical document that will help their loved ones when the time comes.” Florence Goodwin, Private Client Solicitor from SME Solicitors, added: “It is such an honour to be part of the Wills for the Cathedral scheme.

“It is lovely to work with other law firms in the local community, all for the good of our beautiful Cathedral. It is clear that the scheme is popular with local residents, and I hope it is one that runs for many years to come.”

Writing a Will allows your loved ones to be cared for after your death. Having this important document ensures that your specific wishes will be carried out exactly as you would like – and can help to alleviate some of the distress of those dear to you at a difficult time.

If you have not yet made a Will, this summer is the perfect time to do so! Worcester Cathedral is delighted that ‘Make a Will this Summer’ is back again for 2026. Details will be released later in the year.

The Cathedral is currently looking for solicitors to get involved to bring more opportunities to the local community.
