Switch Hospitality Management Ltd is welcoming guests to aparthotel Birmingham Snowhill, which has officially opened its doors with an industry-leading, eco-conscious design.

With the choice of 10 accommodation types across 161 luxury suites, from a classic 22sqm studio to two-bedroom and terraced apartments, a selection of rooms have been designed to suit every stay - from a short work trip to extended leisure or family break. Upon opening, the refurbished site, formerly known as the Royal Angus Hotel, was awarded an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating of “10 A”, where “0 A” indicates net-zero carbon emissions.

This rating has positioned aparthotel Birmingham as one of the city’s most sustainable commercial developments, producing significantly lower emissions than the industry average ratings of “17 A” for new builds and “68 C” for existing stock. With a modern and eco-conscious design, aparthotel Birmingham is a completely gasless site that runs off 100% renewable energy, generated entirely from solar and wind power, whilst heat pumps and heat recovery systems have eliminated the use of fossil fuels.

John Angus, Managing Director of Switch Hospitality Management Ltd, commented: “Our ambition is for aparthotel Birmingham to become an industry-leading asset, which combines a modern and sustainable design with exceptional service.

“From the earliest design stages, we were committed to investing in upgrades to the site’s infrastructure to ensure our operations have a minimal environmental impact, without compromising on the quality guest experience that Switch has become known for.” Guests are also encouraged to limit their use of single-use products, with refillable Rituals toiletries, bamboo stationary, and dedicated bins for plastic, glass, paper and food waste provided in every room.

Creating a ‘home away from home’ experience, each suite has dedicated spaces for sleeping, relaxing, working and dining. Rooms are furnished with a fully-equipped kitchen, including fridge-freezer, washer-dryer and combi-microwave oven, while guests can also benefit from the latest technology, including self-check in portals and wi-fi hotspots.

An on-site NISA Local is also due to open in early 2024, fully stocked with everyday essentials, so that guests can grab a hearty breakfast on the go or easily pick up ingredients for an evening meal for the family. aparthotel Birmingham’s new General Manager, Ehatshum Chowdhury, commented: “After much anticipation, we’re thrilled to officially open our doors and welcome our first residents.

“Combining the everyday comforts of home, the luxury of a hotel and the flexibility of a self-catered apartment, I’ve no doubt aparthotel Birmingham will become the go-to destination for anyone visiting the city, providing a perfect base to work, travel or explore.” Ideally located in Birmingham city centre, aparthotel Birmingham is close to St Chad’s tram stop and Birmingham Snow Hill station, with direct access to Stratford-Upon-Avon, Worcester and London Marylebone via the Chiltern Line.

Overlooking St Chad’s Queensway, the site is easily accessible from the A38 and has a dedicated link bridge to the car park with 24/7 security. Switch Hospitality Management Ltd has overseen the redevelopment of the site into a luxury aparthotel on behalf of the owners, SevenCapital, and will continue to manage its operations as asset managers.
