The wives and girlfriends of Birmingham City footballers are to take to the catwalk next week as a Solihull boutique celebrates it's launch with a Spring-Summer fashion show.

The Ginger Tree in Drury Lane has enlisted Becky Doyle, wife of Blues' goalkeeper Colin, and her friends to strut their stuff in the season' latest styles with a share of all clothing sold on the night going towards Becky's charity.

Becky and her husband - who has just finished his career at the club - run a charity called Liam's Smiles which raises funds for and awareness of meningitis. Liam, aged just five, almost lost his life to the condition in 2010 and to this day still suffers from fits and seizures.

The fashion show on Thursday May 21 will also see Chloe - girlfriend of footballer Callum Reilly - taking part although Ginger Tree owner Ken Grey is also keen to point out that the event will feature fashion for everyone aged 18-60 and sizes 8-24.

In all there will be two shows at the shop open to customers and invited guests with the first running between 1pm and 3pm and then an evening show between 7pm and 9pm.

Both shows will feature four different fashion-scenes, including day wear, holiday buys, dressing for day to night and a special finale featuring the exclusive Diva designer range with dresses priced up to £120.

Ginger Tree owner Ken said: “ It is important to us that we reflect everyday women and everyday wear and, whilst the Birmingham City ladies will be adding a touch of glamour, we will also be showing how anyone of any age and with any budget can look stunning in our clothes."

Guests at the afternoon show will be treated to mocktails and cup cakes while champagne and canapes will be served at the evening event. The evening show will also be compered by ITV weather girl Genelle Aldred.

Becky said: “We are thrilled to be joining Ginger Tree for this special event, which will not only promote our cause and raise valuable funds, but also promises to be a lot of fun.”

The proud mum added that the wives and girlfriends were really looking forward to their role and grateful to Ken and his staff Norma Lewis and Elaine Doherty for hosting the event in their honour.

As well as 10% from sales on the night there will also be a raffle with prizes supplied by Solihull businesses to boost the charity coffers.
