WATCH (Working Actively To Change Hillfields) a Coventry-based charity that provides support and resources to some of the most disadvantaged individual’s in today’s society has received funding of £33,328 from People’s Health Trust, using money raised through The Health Lottery. This funding will enable WATCH to deliver a Community Action Project in Hillfields until July 2017.

Centre Manager, Trish Evans, said “we are delighted to receive this grant to expand our work in the local community, this project will be interactive for local residents through the use of our community Radio Station Hillz FM to identify and tackle local issues.”

Residents of Hillfields will be able to receive radio training and develop new skills while working together to create an action plan to improve their neighbourhood. Our newly assigned Community Engagement Officer will be out and about in the community to meet local residents and find out about what the needs are.

WATCH enables disadvantaged individuals to overcome multiple barriers including; long term unemployment, access to training, language support and personal development through employment and children and young people’s projects.

The project will be hosting a number of coffee mornings and action days to engage with local resident and work together to develop a three year neighbourhood action plan to sustain long term community development in Hillfields.
