To mark the official opening ceremony of this summer’s major sporting event, Victorian Arcade in Walsall hosted its very own carnival celebrations. The event brought true Brazilian style to the town as the centre played host to a variety of colourful salsa stilt walkers who entertained shoppers with their impressive circus skills. The shopping centre also supplied an all-round entertainer as well as a full steel band and face painter to help bring some South American sunshine to Walsall.
To truly submerge shoppers into carnival surroundings, Victorian Arcade was dressed to the nines with Brazilian inspired props including giant maracas and palm trees, which visitors were invited to pose alongside all in celebration of the 2016 sporting event in Rio.
Darren Griffiths, Senior Regional Facilities Manager of GBR Phoenix Beard, the managing agents for Victorian Arcade, commented:
“Our carnival event was a great success and it was wonderful to see the centre so busy with local families enjoying the free Brazilian themed entertainment. The stilt walkers were incredible and everyone loved the sound of the steel band, it truly did bring a slice of Rio to Walsall.”
