A care home in Sutton Coldfield opened its doors to the community to toast its latest milestone with a party inspired by the 1960s and 1970s.
The team at Care UK’s Bishops Manor, on Jockey Road, transported residents and neighbours to the mod culture era in celebration of the home’s ninth anniversary. To stay true to the theme, which was picked by residents, the home was adorned in 60s and 70s-style decorations, and stocked up with vintage props, perfect to transport everyone back in time.
To get guests grooving, singer Fran Dwane performed a classic selection of retro hits, including Respect by Aretha Franklin. Visitors also enjoyed a celebratory cake, specially prepared by the head chef, along with Piña Coladas.
Thomas Bampfield, Home Manager at Bishops Manor, said: “We always take time to celebrate every moment here at Bishops Manor, whether big or small, so we had to go all out for our ninth anniversary.
“The theme went down a treat with everyone! Many residents have fond memories of the 60s and 70s.
“Most of them were young adults back then, starting out in life and raising their families, so the theme gave them all a brilliant opportunity to reminisce on these years. It’s been an amazing nine years here in Sutton Coldfield, and we’re proud of everything we’ve accomplished so far.
“We’re really grateful for our community and would like to say a big thank to our neighbours that came to visit on the day.” Bishops Manor has a dedicated team offering residential, dementia and nursing care, as well as short-term respite care.
Designed to enable residents to live active and rewarding lives, while also promoting independence, the home incorporates plenty of space for leisure, activities, hobbies, and includes its very own café, hair and beauty salon and pub. The building has been designed to facilitate the creation of close-knit communities and encourage social interaction amongst the residents.
